finding my center of gravity in the crooked room

October 14, 2015

I am reading SISTER CITIZEN by Melissa V Harris-Perry.

in the beginning of the book she refers to cognitive psychology research on field dependence.

field dependence studies focus on a people placed in a crooked room  and their perceptions of  alignment vertically.

it is intriguing that some people align themselves with their surroundings and images in the crooked room and believe they are vertical when they are actually tilted while others try and are able to align themselves vertically regardless of the tilt and surrounding images.

what is your vertical in the tilted world that is?

for me it is a journey. and I have seen  the crooked room as the elephant in the room that most don’t see
